Paul Loftus is the founder and operations manager at Hope House Thailand and has been helping addicts find recovery since his own recovery from opiate dependancy began over 14 years ago. He himself was an addict for over 23 years. Here he has put together a team who have experience dealing with addicts/alcoholics and their recovery from addiction in a real world setting. The team have a great knowledge of recovery from addiction and are available to our client 24/7.
The team consists of Paul Loftus (manager of operations) Raymond Svendsen (recovery coach and support worker), Chris H (support worker) Nadda Hipkaew (house manager and Thai liaison) Ae Poonpon (house services). Between them the ensure you have the support you need at the time you need it. We have a team that understand the trials and pitfalls of early recovery and will be there to assist you with your daily routine. We think of ourselves as a family team, Hope House Thailand is not a large corporate-like institute and we have a family atmosphere within our walls and especially amongst our staff.
The team facilitate group sessions, one to one recovery coaching sessions, Teaching Basic English (to the local monks with Nada), personal fitness training, Transportation to NA meetings, Volunteer work at local orphanage and kayaking. If you have ideas for new things they are there to see if we can help with that. You have more freedom at Hope House but the level of care available is here 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
We have volunteers that are sometimes working as part of the team on occasion. In fact Chris H was originally one of those volunteers and was originally a client here, who then stayed on to become part of our team. Matt and Daniel from Australia occasionally come to help out and have previously been full time staff. Both of them were clients here at Hope House Thailand and both have now been living and working in Thailand for over 2 years, having remained clean and sober. Matt is a mixed martial arts specialist who, when here at the house, trains clients in Muay Thai (Thai kick boxing). He is also one of the first of our clients to graduates the TEFL course and is currently working in Bangkok teaching at English camps, so a great person to ask for help with any of your TEFL assignments. Daniel is also an ex-client whom works as an english teacher on english camps around Thailand, so he too has helped many clients complete the TEFL course here at the house.
